NEW RADIO SHOW HELPS PEOPLE HURTING FROM LOVE, RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS
(Rockwall TX, 8/29/07) A new weekly talk radio show offering expert advice and lively discussions to help adults, teens and children hurting from love and relationship problems begins broadcasting every Saturday morning, beginning Sept. 1, on the all-new News-Talk-Sports station for Northeast Texas, AM 1400 KGVL..
Airing every Saturday, 8-10 am, “When Love Hurts” features in-depth interviews, current news and interesting talk with local and national experts, professionals, newsmakers and listeners who call in to help people learn how to build healthy, loving relationships, so they can overcome and avoid such widespread cultural problems as dating and/or marrying the wrong person, divorce, affairs, poor parenting, child abuse/neglect, in-law problems, dating violence, family violence, stalking, sexual violence, drugs, crime and more.
Sponsored by the Dallas-based Lillian Smith Family Violence Foundation, the show is hosted by the non-profit’s founder, J.J. Smith, with co-host and broadcast news student Katie Clemens, both of whom are survivors of severe family violence, who have overcome a variety of relationship problems.
The show’s topics revolve around solving and preventing the family violence epidemic, which is now the leading cause of injury to women and children in America, according to Smith, a veteran advertising, public relations and political campaign consultant who’s worked with such companies and clients as KVIL Radio, Dallas Cowboys Radio, Time Warner Cable, Exxon, Macy’s, Six Flags Over Texas and Southwest Airlines.
“Now that about half of all marriages are said to be ending in divorce, and family violence has been declared a nationwide epidemic, there are so many people who need guidance and assistance dealing with love and relationship problems,” Smith said. “Our show will attempt to help as many of these adults, teens and children as possible to receive and find the help they need.”
“A show like this has been needed for some time to help victims, guide them to safety and overcome many of the myths and misconceptions of family violence,” he added. “We’re very grateful to KGVL for helping us to air this much-needed program.”
Smith and his family established the Foundation in 2006 in memory of his mother, Lillian Smith, who was murdered in front of J.J when he was ten years old by his abusive father, just before he committed suicide. With the assistance of volunteers and professionals from across the country, the Foundation is now starting to launch campaigns to help persuade communities nationwide to stop and prevent domestic abuse of all kinds.
